El Salado was once a prosperous farming village in the region of Bolivar, Colombia. A decade ago a paramilitary group perpetrated a brutal and barbaric massacre of the population, accused of collaborating with the FARC. The population, like so many others became displaced and homeless. This series was commissioned to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the atrocities, and to acknowledge those who have chosen to return to their homes, and the efforts to reconstruct the village on behalf of a local charitable foundation, sponsored by The ‘Semana’ news magazine. -
